Drive
tapes are used in carriage positioning applications
such as plotters, scanners, coordinate measuring
conveyors, read/write heads, optical element
drives, aperture positioning, and robot arms.
Many are used in zero or near-zero backlash
applications. Unlike belts, drive tapes are
not endless. Belt Technologies' drive tapes
are fitted with specialized end tabs or perforations
to enable them to be secured to a location
on the conveyor.
One of the best uses of a metal belt or drive
tape is carriage positioning applications.
The linear rail on which the carriage rides
supports the weight of the carriage, and aids
in belt tracking. |
